January- Jump Review

Dear Inspirations,

I’ve always loved reading ever since I was able to read. I would beg my grandmother to let me walk to the public library and I was faithful to my Power-card.  As I got older I got out of the habit of reading simply because I don’t make time for it. “Reading is fundamental” we all know that.

So, with that being said I am going to read one book a month. One book a month sounds easy, so easy that I was not able to complete it last year. This year I am not going to let it go. I am holding myself accountable. Here’s my January review of Jump by Steve Harvey.

Review
JUMP- GAVE ME LIFE

After reading Steve Harvey’s book my soul is hopeful, renewed and enlightened.

I feel as though it was written just for me. I started the book January 1st and I finished it January 15th. The book is relatively short with six chapters. I love this book for a number of reasons but I don’t want to spoil it for you. The first one is the personal anecdotes that Steve shares about his personal life. I've  always been a fan of his since Showtime at the Apollo. After reading this book it is very clear how he became successful. He jumped. In every situation he had choices to make and every time he chose to jump.

Steve made it clear in every chapter that “if you don’t jump your parachute will never open”.
My God, that statement alone spoke to me in ways that I can’t even begin to explain.
I feel like we all want to live a life that is purposeful but at the same time we’re all scared to jump.
Year after year, I’ve thought about things I wanted to do. I’ve envisioned them, I’ve prayed on them, I’ve wrote them down. But I have never jumped fully. I’ve been in and I’ve been out. I’ve got on that ledge and I’ve said I’m going out there to do this, but each time I’ve ran back.

Steve defines jump in so many  ways.

“Jumping is taking a risk, a leap of faith towards your dreams. Jumping is making a career move, Jumping is rectifying an issue in your personal relationships. Jumping is embracing the ambition that God has put in your imagination and you making a commitment to manifest it in your life”
(Harvey and Lakins).

I want to JUMP. I want God to open doors in my life that I didn’t even know were possible. I want to live in such a way that my son believes that he is truly capable of anything. Not only because I tell him and teach him, but because I am an example of that.
Each chapter was a true eye opener and a testament of jumping. I really want you to read the book so I won’t go into too many details. However, I will share one  quote  and what I learned and from each chapter.

Chapter one:“The more jump, the more you will look back and be amazed at how far God has brought you” (Harvey and Lakins).

Every lesson that you learn in life prepares you for the next level of your life. If you never fail you will never know what it is to win. If you fail and wallow in that failure you will never be able to win. Jumping is necessary.

Chapter two: "Hope requires you to get out of your bed and make something happen every day."

When you jump, you must have hope that your parachute will open. You can’t expect for everything to be glamour’s at the beginning. Even when times get tough you must keep going because you have faith. I know this is why it’s taken me so long to jump in my professional life.

Chapter three:"There is absolutely nothing in your life that God hasn't already pulled you through or isn't currently  pulling you through".

God will truly bring you out of any situation. He will take that same situation and turn it into something good! When you find yourself in a situation those REAL ones will be there without you asking. I think this was one of my favorite chapters because it spoke real truth to Steve's life

Chapter four:"God can bless your steps if you are taking some. He cannot bless your steps if you are not taking any."

Some times one jump ends up setting you up for your whole life. I look back on my life and I see the fruits of my jumps. It is no coincidence that I am where I am because every jump that I've taken has set me up for this moment. I need to be more open to sharing my gifts with the world  in ANY capacity. I am going to keep going

Chapter five "Your dream has to be tied to something that you are gifted at doing".

When people ask me whats my end game, I often feel intimidated or pressured to lie. I think the uncertainty of living up to that potential scares me. When I was younger I aspired to be a singer, and a piano player. Then for a  very long time I wanted to become a journalist and an actress.  In my mind I was going to be bigger than Oprah. In fact I had mapped out this master plan  to steal Oprah's story line and put my name on it. (so serious) I know now that my gift is bigger than news and being in movies.  I want to inspire people to be the best version of themselves. I believe that I have a true gift to motivate and inspire others even if it's just sharing a smile. I will eventually open a non profit organization that will foster those gifts. This chapter reminded me that no matter where I am today in this journey of life I am still going to come out on top!

Chapter six: "Never let your past mistakes or your fears stop you from jumping"

It's easy to say "you know what A,B & C did not work. I am not going out there again and look like a fool. I know this to be true in my personal life. I've failed more times then I like to express and because I've failed I've allowed it to cripple my success. 2016 was a whole year of me not jumping because I was to scared. I don't want to live like that. I don't want my son to feel like if you fall down one time you can't ever get back on his bike. I am going to try new things this year. If it does not work SO WHAT!

Inspirations, if you don't read anything else this year read JUMP. I'm yet blessed that my friend Casilya  thought enough of me to buy the book as a graduation gift. I believe that it was a true message in that book just for me. I am going to JUMP. I don't know the details of the jump, but what I do know for sure is that life is to short to stay on the ledge.

Drop me some of your favorite books in the comments! We're reading one a month!

Until we meet again

The Shift

Dear Inspirations,

At this exact moment... everything is good.
It's Monday and I am full of energy. I am positive. I am hopeful.
I feel as though there will be a shift this week.
I feel like a mountain will be moved.
Have you ever felt like that? Maybe it's just me.
Its a beautiful thing when you  can feel the shift before it happens.
If you are ever able to feel the shift it's usually right after a storm or a test.
You feel calm as if things have already been worked out in your favor.
You feel like you've already won a battle that you've been fighting.

I believe in that.
I can hear God.
I can literally feel his presence.

Thing start to happen when you decide that you will not allow negative energy into your life.
That's where I am right now. Why put up with negativity?
Now I am not saying that I am positive every single day of my life.

What I am saying is that I wake up every morning with the intentions of having a good day.
After reading The Rhythm of life, I decide that I am going to make the most of each day.

I choose to have glitter for breakfast and shine all day honey.
I choose to stand in the sun and let the shadows fall behind me.
This is defined as the shift.
Let's shift together.

Until we meet again

Grad Chapter: Honest moment

Dear Inspirations,

As of December 10th 2016, I am officially done with graduate school. (Inserts a fist pump) I am free from school!! I've graduated once again and this time it was different. I remember how amazing and stress free it was to graduate for the first time. There was so much adrenaline pumping and I looked at the world as a ocean. I was ready to take the world by storm.

Fast forward four years.... I'm married, I'm a mom and I guess you could say the world feels different.

Saturday felt amazing don't get me wrong. BUT the feeling was different. I felt a sense of pride, joy and true completion. I am the first one in my family mom and dad side to go to college. I was the first one to get my bachelors and currently the only one. I was also the first one to get my masters. I'm not saying this to brag. I'm saying this because I feel extremely grateful. Undergraduate I felt like I did it for my dad and my sisters. Graduate school was for me. I started the program single, but I ended it married and with a son.
So much growth as a woman.

Time flies and life does not wait for you to get ready!

Even though I graduated Saturday.... I am yet unemployed at this exact moment. (just typing that makes me cringe)
Despite being unemployed.. I know that greater is coming. I tell myself this daily and some days are harder to believe than others.
I will be the first to say that its very hard when it seems like nothing is looking up.

I'll be real honest and say that.. the weeks leading up to graduation I felt hopeless, discouraged, and really down and out. Everyone was asking "How do you feel are you excited?" I had to fake it.
I was having a hard time looking at graduation as an accomplishment, because of my current job situation.

I was trying really hard to shake it. I was having a inner battle.  I have those moments all the time. I try really hard not to let it effect my personal life, but it does.

I'm working on that as a person.

I know in months to come things might get tough, but I also believe that God will make a way.
He always does. Some how I'm always okay.

I believe in God.

I have some amazing people in my life that don't let me beat myself up.
I have real friends in my corner rooting for me.
I have a wonderful husband and a son who loves me dearly. Not for what I have, but for who I am.
Because of those things I must go on.

I closed yet another chapter of my life.
It's time for a new one.

Only God knows what's next for me. Whatever it is I AM READY.
I'm going to focus in and get ready for my blessings.

This blog is for me as a reminder of where I am in my life. It is also for you.
If you feel like giving up... DON'T
If you feel like you aren't standing in the right place... YOU ARE
If you feel like you should stand on faith and do something else ...DO IT
If you feel like you are struggling and no one knows how you feel... I DO
If you feel like things won't get better... THEY WILL

Until next time

She's a GOAL digger

“I’m going to get my life together”.

You know there is an app for that.
No, there isn’t an app for that, but imagine if there was!
Geesh, looking at my goal list for 2016… and if I am being truthful I must say I slacked all year.
Goals are always great to have, but what’s a goal with no plan of execution?
It’s just words with no real meaning.
Life has a funny way of making you feel like you’re not where you need to be.

Looking at my goal list makes me feel like I failed myself.
“Jasmine, you had 365 days to complete your goals what happen?”
Looking at it again makes me feel like I lied to myself all year.
But the truth of the matter is “Life happens”

I knew when I set some of those goals it would be almost impossible or very hard to complete.
Some of them were  just outlandish. “Loose 100 lbs”
I mean I know that might sound doable to some people, but for most of the year I was pregnant so.. (go figure).

We never think about all of the goals we did accomplish though.
One of my 2016 goals was to get married (DONE)
Move into a bigger space (DONE)
Graduate with my MPA (in the works 12.10.16)
DearJasmineP  an official doing business name (DONE)
Get closer to God (ongoing goal)

See I wasn’t on social media the whole year. I was out in the streets making things happen (lol)

Speaking of social media... I think this is the root to not completing goals.
In efforts to get my life together I am slowly going to be taking big breaks from social media. This week I deleted my Twitter app.
I replaced it with a productive app. (Water reminding app).
Social media is a silent GOAL KILLER.
Yea, I said it.
Think about how much time we spend being noisy... (I'm included).
I'm going to work on cutting back.

My friends and I have been talking about getting our life together for 2017!
I am with that movement man!
That’s one thing about the people in my circle they keep me inspired, motivated, and constantly laughing.
Shout to “The Girls”

I am going to get things in line.

This blog is just a small reminder that life is going to happen and sometimes it won’t be in your control.
Just because you didn’t meet all of your 2016 goals doesn’t mean you failed.
2016 taught me that in order to reach a goal one must have a TRUE plan of execution.
Not just scribbled words on a note pad. A true plan of action.

This one is for those goal diggers! Let’s set those goals and make it happen!
Let's hold each other accountable for making 2017 a better year.
Set goals. Make a plan. Execute. (in that order).

Because God works

Dear Inspirations,

Why is it that when we are going through we have a hard time believing it's going to work out?

It's not until after its worked out that we are able to relax and rejoice in what God has done for us.

I don't want to be that person that's worried that God won't answer my prayers. In the midst of my test and in the midst of my storm I want to already be rejoicing that he has brought me out.

I want to be so rooted in God that my faith lets me see it already worked out.
I want it to become such a routine where I don't have to worry.

Why can't we trust God? When our whole world is upside down, we must believe that he will fix it.

To many times as humans we sit and wonder "how am I going to make it, how will I get through this"

Today I remind you that God has already worked it. Your life is going as planned. God has heard your cry. God has heard your prayer. No matter what the situation is.. Know that God has went ahead and answered. It's all in a matter of timing. We ask for so much and sometimes he just wants us to be patient.

Will you believe God today?
Will you believe that your blessing is just  on the other side of that test?
Yes it might be hard and we might not want to go through it, but believe that it's already done!

Happy Monday!

The fish bowl

Dear Inspirations,

I feel forced to think of my life as a huge bowl.

A bowl in which I'm inside of trying to get out of.

I've been forced to find myself sinking in this imaginary bowl or sometimes soaking like a fish.

I saw people climbing out of my exact bowl. I saw people getting in my fish bowl too.

I knew I wanted to be out of it.
I knew I needed to be on the outside of this bowl.

I could hear the voices saying "just keep swimming".

My fins were tired.
My heart was to small to continue.
I knew if I gave up now there would be no story to tell.
There would be no one that could tell my story like I would.

I was in the bowl trying to get out.
No one to rescue me but me.

She kept swimming.
One day she got out.

Jasmine P.

The wait

Dear Inspirations,

She was tired of waiting in the wing.
She was tired of being the one unseen.

You ever thought about just taking all you had and just running with it?

Yea me either.
She wanted to do something different.
She wanted to be in another light.

You ever thought about just forgetting your morals and values?
You know saying yes to everything you once said "I'll never do that".

 Yea, me either.
She wanted to feel the passion behind waking up and clocking in at 8.
She wanted those beach vacations.

You ever thought about all the possible ways to make it?
You ever wished that silver spoon existed for you?

Yea me either.
She wanted more.
She wanted to make a difference.

You ever found yourself in deep thought about everything?
You ever said "I'm ok" knowing you weren't?

She wanted to repeat over and over that she wasn't drowning.

She wanted to be her own lifeguard.
She rehearsed it and it sounded believable.

I'm fine. I'll be ok. Yea I know.
Help is on the way. Better days are ahead. She heard it all.

Yet she waited in the wings.
Yes she waited unseen.
That person is me and the answer to those questions are yes.

Love Jasmine P.

#Dearwoman

Dear Inspirations,

Last night, I had the pleasure of being a Queen in a room full of Queens. I had on my invisible crown, dressed in all black, ruby woo (for lips)  and curls for the pics!  I was truly happy to be apart of  the
#Justwordstour it was moving and inspirational.
 The four poets were:
 Perry “Vision” DiVirgilio (@Visionpoet)
 Michael E. Reid (@justmike_)
Jamarr Hall (@jamarrhall) and A.J McQueen (@ajmcqueen)

At first I wasn't going to go because of the "tropical storm Bill", but I am so glad I was able to make it. I was really surprised that they didn't cancel. You know how some people are about canceling. (Oh
look it's 30% chance of rain #CANCEL). They made it so I got out in the weather as well. I had already been stalking Mike via instagram and twitter asking him to come to Houston for months.

The entire night I sat there wrapping  my mind around words that uplifted me as a woman.

This was my first time meeting all of them in person and it won't be my last.
After reading Michaels  book #Dearwoman for the first time I felt empowered by a man other than family to be a better woman.

For the first time in my life I felt it was okay to be pretty, smart, bold, beautiful, and sexy without it truly being a problem for a man. I use to think that I had to dumb it down a little, because no man would ever want to be with someone who is  "ALL OF THAT"

I use to meet guys all the time and I never wanted to seem extremely smart or share that I have plans of being the next Oprah.

Most of the time I would meet guys hoping that they would  see how amazing I was and not just an object. Dearwoman is so relatable to the girl that I use to be. It touched me on many ways that I can't even begin to share if you haven't read the book.

After reading Dearwoman I know that those so call men were just boys and they couldn't handle my crown. In the words of Mike "I needed bigger hands to carry it"

They couldn't handle all of the woman that I was in the process of becoming.

I love Dearwoman so much because its real. It's not one of those books that words are forced on the page by some printing company. It's honest poetry.

Last night made me remember how much I love poetry and art. They were all equally great and I feel like as a woman I should be walking in my purpose to inspire people as well. Last night added fuel to my fire and it made me want to be better at everything.

I know your probably thinking well "Did it really take four strange men to make you want to be better?" No, it was more than just that.
Sometimes you just need to be in a room full of Queens.
Sometimes you just need to see something new.
Sometimes you just need a tiny reminder that you are a Queen.
Sometimes you just need to know that someone feels just like you.
Sometimes you just need to believe in yourself.

No matter what it is or how I do it I know that I need to do it.

Mike shared that this is his purpose and I truly believe it and I could feel it at the same time. I will forever love how he touched my life with just words on a page.

Thank you to Chaniqua who was ready to risk it all in the weather with me to be my date at the show! (I LOVE YOU)

Thank you to Visionpoet for his ability to make me laugh and want to cry in the same breath. (YASS)

Thank you to AJ McQueen for your truth and words that made me and the people at my table tear up.

Thank you to Jamarr Hall for being a multi- talented guy. Your voice is amazing and for  sharing your situation (ships).

Last, but not least..

Thank you Mike for sharing your story with us on how you got started. Thank you for giving Queens a book that we can truly relate to. Thank you for being that voice for women that are in those situations that your write about. Thank you for helping us walk away. Thank you for letting us know to "never to take the jewels off of our crown"

Pictures from #Dearwomantour

The lighting tried to sabotage our picture, but we still made it happen. (This means so much)

Views from my snapchat
 Sanerica Davis and AJ Mcqueen

Mike handed out a few books and he even signed them at the end! (THANKS)

From right to left VisionPoet, Me and Chaniqua

From right to left  Jamarr Hall, Chaniqua, and I discussing the selfie stick.
 Two queens sharing a selfie.

Inspirations this blog was to remind you all to walk in your purpose.
To pick up a book that you haven't finished.
It was also a reminder for me to believe that anything is truly possible.

Make someone's day

Dear Inspirations,

I spoke with a friend yesterday about a number of things. Mainly this person spoke about how at times they do things for people and they don't expect anything in return. I could agree with that statement whole heartedly.

The person also, said that at times it would be nice if someone thought of them the way they thought of others.

Could you imagine a world where everyone thought of someone else besides themselves?

I think that could possibly could bring world peace. Somehow people might react different. Somehow people might wake up in a better mood. Think about.

Whenever it's Christmas and someone gets you a gift that you didn't expect at all.
How does that make you feel?
Happy right?
What about when you find some money on the ground?
What about when someone says... "I like that shirt"
You feel like "man I am having a great day"
What about the time someone offers to pay for your food and you say "no I am ok"

And they do it anyway. These are the moments that the universe needs more of. These are the moments that could change your life or someone else’s.

I am a believer in random acts of kindness.
I am also a strong believer in showing gratitude to others.

Do we know this statement to be true?

WE ARE ALL GOING THROUGH LIFE.
Why not help make someone else’s life a little bit better?

I am not saying go out and spend your paycheck on your rude coworker.
I am not saying give a compliment to ever person you see.
I am also not saying go without for another individual.
I am simply saying...

Think of someone else.
Think of a way to help someone in need.
Think of how you can possibly make someone’s day.

P.s. It’s almost Friday.

Yours Truly

Jasmine P.

Proof

Dear Inspirations,

In the misdt of me not having the best week of my life I reached a breakthrough of some sort.
I know this might not mean  much to you, but it means everything to me.
One of my post on Instagram reached 105 likes.
I assume a lot of people could relate to the post.
I must agree! It was one of those YES moments for me as well.
As I stated before I never created the page for the likes, I created it to help myself.
I considered it to be open therapy.
Once I continued posting  I realized it was also helping others.
When I say others I mean people that sometimes need an extra kick in motivation.
I am honestly proud of the growth in numbers that the page reaches daily.
You can say that I feel a sense of graditude when people comment saying "I needed this" or "right on time".
Moments like that reinterate that DearJasmineP serves its true purpose.
To inspire. To motivate. To give hope. To share truths.
I  know that I have been facing a lot of trials this week. Mentally and emotionally, but its always a storm before the calm right?

I know that I am facing these situations to make me a stronger person.
Some day I am sure I will get to write the world's best selling novel that will allow me to add moments like this.

You know those "I came from nothing.... One room... roaches.. and we didn't have any running water".
I think those stories are all similar to my story minus the roaches and the running water.

This blog is just to say thank you to all of the people that follow and like  DearJasmineP.
You are appreciated.
The struggle is going to end one day.
The struggle is worth it.
The struggle can't last forever.

Yours Truly

Motivation for Monday

Dear Inspirations,

Today I woke up feeling on top of the world!  Although my spring break is over and I am back to work I woke up with no hesitation.

I think my hair is on point, my outfit was together and I even feel well rested.

It's almost strange because  over the weekend I suffered a setback.

I think this is me really, really trying to practice what I preach wholeheartedly.

It's the first day of the week and I decided not to let anything steal my joy.

What's odd is the moment I said that it seem like the devil was like "BOOM! I am going to get you"

I had a small wardrobe malfunction now that alone can take you from a 10 to a 0, I was able to utilize my fashionista skills to pull it together.

Then my original plan for work was reassigned, (What I planned for today was no longer important and the copies I made no longer mattered) Don't you just hate when that happens.

Instantly I was  hit with a thousand negative thoughts. I quickly recovered those thoughts with a quick prayer.

Why am I sharing? I just wanted to let you know that even when you plan to be positive somethings will be thrown at you. The devil will TRY YOU.

Even when you are prepared things will go wrong. Just TRY TO KEEP being POSITIVE.

It's only Monday and I am sure there is more to come, but one thing I do know for sure is that I will keep going in this positive direction.  " My setbacks are a setup for a great comeback, This is not the end for me, this is only the beginning".

I know I have probably said this a thousand times and I am sure that I keep starting over and that's okay too.

Over (DUE)

Dear Inspirations,

I would like to personally apologize for taking a five week break like I did. The last few weeks have been mentally taxing. I had nothing positive to share in my life.  I know exactly why, but I would rather not share that part.  Honestly, I think I have been in some type of funk. I have woke up daily trying to shake it and I  even tried to trick  myself  into believing that "I was okay". Truth is I wasn't and I really haven't been.

Without going into detail to much I will say that I know that God has heard every cry and every prayer that I have asked him to do in my life. Now it's just a matter of time and patience.

Somedays  I just knew I couldn't go on.
Each time he would send me a sign.

He would send someone my way every time  to say "you can do this".

I always tell myself "things could be worse Jasmine". Things could easily be worse. I made it through worse things then this before right? What's crazy is each day I tried to wear a smile and each day it seem like someone tried to take it off my face. Yet I am still alive, still breathing.

Everyone still depends on me. Everyone still believes in me. How could I give up? How could I quit?

Truthfully, that's the only thing that has got me as far as I am today.

You can say that this blog is  a personal reminder and it's totally for me but I would like to think that you needed to hear this as well.

Today marks the beginning of spring break and the beginning of better days.

From here on out I will focus on my blessings. By faith its already done. I encourage you to do the same.

Love Jasmine P.

News Flash

Dear inspirations,

We are back at it once again with a Monday ahead of us.
Check out the story written by a great friend of mine!

http://casilyasmith.com/dear-jasmine-p-gains-following-through-spreading-positivity-online/

I had the pleasure of being interviewed by Casilya Smith over the weekend for her homework assignment. I know it might seem like a small thing to you, but honestly it is a great honor for me. As I spoke to Casilya I felt like all of my efforts have never really went in vain and the things that I do truly matter. I use to care about reaching millions of people and now that I am older I realize that fame isn't what I want.  I am proud of the progress I have made and I am proud of where I am with DearJasmineP at this exact moment.

I told myself that this would be a great year and two months in it's already going really well!!

Thank you for believing in me. There is more to come!

Unleash the Beast

Dear Inspirations

For a Monday I feel relatively good which is always a awesome thing. Despite  last week being  so hard for me mentally I made it through. I even had a few moments of "This can't be life, The struggle can't be this hard'', but it was.

You ever have a bad day and no matter how you try to get passed it seems like it just keeps getting worse? That's how last week was and I am truly glad that it is behind me.

This  week I'm looking forward to good news. Since last week was so bad I know this week will be better. I can almost feel my breakthrough coming. I am closer to victory. I am closer to my dreams. I can feel things getting better. I see myself coming out. These are the things I tell myself.

I am feeling pretty BEASTLY!

In current events...

@DearJasmineP on Instagram reached 700 followers last night. I know that might not be  much to you, but for me it feels like 700k. I started the movement really to help myself daily and then I realized how much people needed to see inspiration daily. I feel bad somedays and sometimes I can't even post because I don't believe in the message. On those days I scroll down my timeline and others inspire me. Followers like @Choran89 gives me hope to go on. I  have no idea how we began following each other, but I'm so glad we did. Although he lives in New York and I'm in Houston together we have made the perfect inspiration team. My only hope is that he doesn't stop and that he holds me to the same promise.

I love reading  all of the comments that say "thank you for this" and other positive thoughts. To all of my followers thank you for following, I hope that my truths inspire you and motivate you to chase your dreams. One day I to will follow my dreams and I hope you all remember this blog and remind me of my promise.

More good news, DearJasmineP finally has a LOGO and I am in the process of getting shirts designed! I am excited for the finish product!  Coming soon!

This week be encouraged, I know this is SO easy to say, but really try to stay positive.
Stay motivated by all of the positive things that are happening in your life. Embrace your struggle and embrace your future. Every now and again a door is closed, but its only for a new one to be opened. I know he truly has a plan for my life, for your life, for our lives! This week I challenge you to dig deep and unleash your inner BEAST!

Inspiring and Empowering all over....

More.

Dear Inspirations,

The more I think about it, the more I hate this.
The more it fustrates me.
The more I want to be in another place.
The more that I need life to hurry and fix itself.
The more I need GOD to fix this for me.
The more I think about it, the more I hate this.

I know whatever is up next for me has to be better than just this.
It has to be a better day a head of me.
Life must be getting ready to take a turn.
It has to be.

The more it fustrates me.
The more I want to be in another place.
The more I want more
The more I must find a way to leave.

That's what I tell myself.
Just has to be another way.

Forgive me for my moment.

Hope (Two years)

Dear Inspirations,

Yesterday marked two years that I graduated from college and began my journey as a real adult. Graduation had so many emotions running through my body that day. I think for the most part I was extremely excited and nothing could take that joy away from me.

Well, two years later I am still not where I want to be in my career. I work a job that isn't to rewarding at times and most of the days it feels like a chore that I have to do. I have been applying for two years literally and nothing has really looked up. Yes, it's very discouraging at times to keep going but somehow week after week I go. Can you imagine week after week applying and hearing nothing? Can you imagine getting those letters "blah blah blah, thank you for applying we found a better canadate blah blah"? Yea, I have seen so many of them in the past two years.

Yesterday marked my two years post grad and it also felt like it marked a turning point in my life. I went on a interview for a company and a position that I know I am qualified to do. The interview went well and at the moment I felt hopeful. Yesterday I found hope. Now don't get me wrong I am Positive Patty and Motivational Mandy most days but in my mind sometimes I am I often fighting
myself thinking like Negative Nancy and Down Debbie. I believe that's human and that we all feel like that sometime.

I don't know if I got the job yet and I won't find out until January but that moment gave me hope.

I challenge you to find hope. To move forward in your life and keep applying yourself. The world is a cruel place at times but look for hope. To all of my grads live in this moment and don't ever give up.

DearJasmineP Gifts for Xmas

Dear Inspirations,

This weekend I had the privilege to volunteer at the George R. Brown Convention Center. It was such a joy to be a part of such an awesome event 20 years running. I remember years ago being one of the kids that received a toy in the audience. I remember how it made me feel inside to have someone give me a Christmas present. As I stood on the food line adding wieners to buns and putting chicken nuts on plates it gave me so much life.

As you know I started a shirt campaign in hopes to make enough money to bless a family or individual with something for Christmas. Well, the first set of shirts didn't go as planned and honestly apart of me wanted to give up. I kinda felt defeated, but then I realized that maybe my shirt goal of 75 was to high and sometimes you have to start small. So I relaunched the campaign with a goal of 10 shirts and I lowered the donation amount. Within two days we made the goal!! It gave made me so happy inside that We raised $53!

After we reached the goal I had to figure out how I was going to get a family nominated. I social media buzzed as usual and  in two days I received the first email. I was up late that night and I had just said "I'm going to sleep". When I read that email about 3 precious kids in need my heart was moved so much that I couldn't go to sleep. I had to do something and it was bigger than just the 53$ so the next day I made a few phone calls and tried to see what I could find.

That's when I found out about the Toy Drive, I knew it happened in Houston every year but I wasn't sure when. I signed them up and I even signed myself and Young Ladies of Elegance up to volunteer.

I looked forward to the event for the following week and as time got closer I only hoped that the kids would be able to make it.

They did!!! Their mom had no idea what the event was or who even signed her up. She explained to me that she is working two jobs to make sure that they have a good Christmas. I watched tears fill her eyes and I watched her beautiful kids smile.

That moment changed my life forever. Don't get me wrong I have been giving all year and it made me happy but nothing was like the smile on their faces. They hugged me like I had known them forever they were holding my hands like I was their big sister. The event went on and we hung out when I wasn't serving food.

At the end they got their toy, took a picture with Santa and got their faces painted.

Giving from the heart is what I know I am here to do. Honestly, they can have the 9-5 and the meet the deadlines. I just want to travel the world changing lives and giving to people that's when I am at my happiest.

I will be visiting those kids again on Christmas Eve with another Christmas gift with the funds from the shirt campaign.

Thank you to everyone that donated and gave to the cause. A big thank you to Shelia Jackson Lee and Young Ladies of Elegance/Young Men of Character. Also a thank you to the person that nominated the family. Last but not least Thank you to Carolina Rodriguez #CarosavesChristmas and Adeola Oguntuga for believing in me.

I hope that you felt inspired enough to help someone in need or just put a smile on someone's face.

New doors request.

Dear inspirations

Old ways don't open new doors. I want new doors. I have to get some new ways.

God help me gather my thoughts to fuel one thing so that I can be great. I don't want to be standing at the same door. I know I am capable of being great. Help me open a new door.

Happy Monday!

Stronger than this.

Dear Inspiration

This is a personal reminder to myself... Because your doing so well people will attack you.
Because they are mad about their life decisions people will try to bring you down.
Because you are happy and they are miserable they will come for you.
People will come for you when you didnt even send for them.
People will try to rain on your parade on a sunny day.
But what will you do?

You will remain faithful.
You will remain positive.
You will stand and shine.
You won't fall to those attacks.

At this exact moment I refuse to fall victim of the attacks that are coming against me this week.

While my life is calm on most days the enemy wants to see me revert back to the old me.

I won't do it. I'm bigger than this. I'm stronger.

I challenge you to do the same.

Love Jasmine P.

Day (dream)

Dear Inspirations

What's the dream?
What's the goal?
Where do you want to go?

Where do you envision yourself in 5 years?

At the end of the day what is the one thing you must be doing?

Now,

What does it take to get there?
What will you do to fuel that dream?
Why will you keep going?

Now,

Go and don't stop until its complete.

To motivate. To share. To inspire. To give hope.
